We gather all together to make the deepest dive to visit my 10 year old self. She’s laid herself out on the road hoping a car will come by and kill her.it’s after midnight.she plays bows & arrows in the woods the forest is her land to be in no restrictions she hangs out with her best friend who also lives with her stepdad sometimes she lights matches saying to her friend, “Let’s blow them out to watch which way the smoke goes and it’ll take us to our real dads” she follows the smoke path for a time but it always disappears her real dad arrives every other weekend and she gets to ride on his motorcycle with him and be free she wishes her mom was able to go away with her so they could both be free together at the same time.


In 2000 my ex-stepfather was sentenced to 52 years to life in prison for how he chose to spend his time with me. Only 9 of us here in this song know that future. The one narrator doesn’t expect to live to 16, It’s hard not to tell her that everything works out. It looks like 16 year old me is having a private conversation with her now. Be careful not to say too much. You’ll put a rip in the space-time continuum.

There’s an evil in my house with the keys to where I live. There’s no escaping him and all the things he is. When it gets real bad, I calm my head. I remember one day I’ll at least be dead and then it ends right there. What’s the worst that can happen? It’s the end.
